Who We Are and What We Do
We are a group of concerned local citizens working locally to help our communities equitably implement sustainable and regenerative practices to slow and adapt to climate change.
Through innovative actions, we promote and enable expanded conservation of non-renewable resources, a change in the quality of urban growth, a merging of economic and environmental stewardship, and the long-term well-being of people and the planet.
Sustainable Seaside is one of six local action groups in Monterey County working in collaboration with Communities for Sustainable Monterey County, a 501c3 nonprofit organization.

Join us each Saturday morning, 10 am to noon, in one of nine Seaside neighborhood parks. In partnership with Friends of Seaside Parks (FOSPA) and the City of Seaside, volunteers are invited to help create and maintain pollinator gardens, tend the food gardens, and enhance the parks.

Community Garden Workdays at the Monterey Adult School in Seaside
- When: Every Thursday, 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM
- Where: Roots Community Garden at Monterey Adult School, 1295 La Salle Avenue, Seaside, CA 93955
- Activities: Planting native species, watering, weeding, and building “rain sponges” to capture and absorb rainwater.
- Important Note: Volunteers must check in at the front office before heading to the garden.
